There are vestiges of the city which have survived since the Middle Ages, but if you’d like to see Paris as it looked during the 1500s, Grez Productions have made a DVD of the reconstituted medieval city and its major monuments, bridges, covered markets, and cathedrals (see Notre Dame’s original facade, painted in bright colors) called Paris au Moyen Age (€17). It’s only available in French at the moment, here is the “trailer”:
