Not just a fictional character, D’Artagnan of The Three Musketeers really did exist!
This plaque commemorates the place where he lived (at the top of Rue du Bac where it meets the Quai Voltaire, 6th arrondissement).

Here was the house where Charles de Batz-Castelmore d’Artagnan, captain of Louis XIV’s Mouquetaires, once lived. He was killed during the siege of Maastricht in 1675, and immortalized in the novels of Alexandre Dumas.
