Fish, La Boissonerie

Fish, La Boissonerie
69 Rue de Seine, 6th.
Tel 01 43 54 34 69

This is another address that has made it into all of the guides, both French and foreign. It’s not specifically a fish restaurant, it’s just located in a former poissonerie (or fish monger’s) and retains its original mosaic tiled exterior. But they do a lot of great fish dishes, light and fresh with lots of veggies. The fact that the co-owners are from New Zealand and the US might explain the healthy-conscious menu and the casual-friendly atmosphere, but this isn’t a tourist-only venue. The duo also own a wine boutique around the corner (La Dernière Goutte), so expect some great vintages on the wine list. It’s best to reserve, as there aren’t many tables.

  • I love this place. We kept walking past and everyone looked like they were having a good time, but we couldn’t get a table. Finally booked in and it was excellent. fun, friendly, service. Good fresh and interesting food. The bread and wine are amazing too. My favourite restaurant in Paris. Much better than some much more expensive ones in the neighbourhood. I have introduced some French friends to it and they love in too.

  • Have been here several times and it is consistently good. A little more Sydney style food than Paris – which makes a nice change. They know how to make the best of the limited menu, and their wine list is excellent, but also have wines of the month which are worth a try.

  • I have been to this restaurant on several visits to Paris and it is excellent. Great food, no attitude, good service.

  • Fantastic restaurant – very laid back, great owners, great food, and not too expensive. We spend New Year’s eve there, and have been other times… well recommended
