Cupcake Camp

Today over 300 people and 2000 cupcakes gathered at Le Comptoir Général near the Canal St Martin for Cupcake Camp Paris 2012, to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Some very interesting flavors: Lime and Ginger Snap on the left, tea and violet on the right.

I was a judge for “The Most Parisian Cupcake” category with Lindsey of Lola’s Cookies and Elo of Elo Les Cupcakes. This dark and white chocolate Eiffel Tower cupcake by Fairy Cooker was the unanimous  winner.

Another entry into the “Most Parisian” category by Prête à Rêver.

Carte Postale de Paris by Cupcake Lovers in Paris. It’s actually a carrot cake cupcake with cream cheese frosting, our runner-up favorite in the “Most Parisian” category.

The little red sparkly berets and mini croissants are adorable!

Fashion Week oblige, we also tested these adorable little couture dress cupcakes.

I loved these little “Parisian Dog” cupcakes (hint: it’s a Yorkie with hair in his eyes, bow on his head, that little coffee bean is his nose) by Cupcakes de Princess Cravatt.

The view from the judges’ chair. The heat began to make the chocolate Eiffel Towers droop!

Not all cupcakes were in competition. Most were just for fun, to help the charity benefit. Here are just a few of the many I could snap up before the crowd snatched them up.

To discover which cupcake won Best in Show, check with the official Cupcake Camp website. I had to bow out at about 3:30pm to make room for the cupcake shopping.

There was already a line all they down to the street! For 2012, be sure to get there early. 😉

  • Thanks for everyone who left comments. Please do remember that the majority of the cupcakes were made by amateurs, not professionals, and that ALL of the cupcakes were donated so that the proceeds from the event could go to charity. 🙂

  • I also had that fig on it was amazing! One of the best of the day by far.I think the event has a lot of room to get better but for the 2nd try it wasn't too bad.

  • Thank you Heather so much for braving the heat and tasting all those cupcakes to find us a winner! Nicolette and I did the final round of best in show and I agree that Eiffel Tower chocolate one by Fairy Cooker was amazing!!! We are pleased to report that close to 500 people attended yesterday, consuming over 2600 cupcakes and helping us to bring in almost 6000 euros! As you know this was a charity event and we thank everyone for helping us make such a sizeable contribution to Make A Wish France. As the French say "jamais deux sans trois" so we'll expect to see you again next year as a judge, right?! ;P
