Finally, for those of you who need very inexpensive lodgings for short or long term, try the Résidence du Palais (formerly the Pension Ladagnous), in a Parisian townhouse overlooking the Jardin du Luxembourg (6th). It’s bed and breakfast in clean but basic double rooms from €65 per night (this is the regular rate, not a promotional rate). A pension is a bit like a boarding house (there are some students who stay long term). This one is in the same building as the Pension Marronniers, but is larger (24 rooms on three floors, with elevator). Dinner is also available for €10, and rooms each have a private shower and TV. Quads are €120, making it a good alternative to the boisterous youth hostels for those who’d rather get a good night’s sleep.
I am an artist who went to Paris for the 1st time in 2004 and I stayed at the former Pension Ladagnous. I want to go back to Paris again and will stay at Residence du Palais bec I’d like a room facing Le Jardin du Luxembourg, Blvd Montparnasse, walking distance to St. Germain de Pris and the Pont Neuf and the right bank, Latin Quarter, simple breakfast, nice spacious room with shower and balcony with a view of the park, which made me feel like like I lived in Paris as a Parisien and not like a tourist in a tiny room in a cheap hotel. Tres Jolie! I really enjoyed staying there. Merci beaucoup.
I stayed at this wonderfully situated pension in the spring of 2008. I loved the proximity to several post-secondary institutions that brought the vibrancy of student life to the streets, and of course the view of the Gardens. It was great to have a shower and sink in the room, and it should be noted that the fat or infirm could NOT use the tiny tiny shower without endangering themselves.
