Housed in the Academy of Surgery of the College of Medicine , this museum offers an important antique collection of operation and other medical instruments in vintage display cases.
Opening Hours: Daily except Thursday and Sunday, October 1-July 15 from 2pm-5:30pm (last admission 5pm); July 15-September 30, daily except Saturday and Sunday, from 2pm-5:30pm (last admission 5pm). Closed on holidays, on August 15 and two weeks during Christmas.
Tickets: Entry to the Museum €3.50, reduced rate of €2.50 for students.
Heather’s Notes: Bring along your French-English dictionary! Some seriously cringe-inducing medical instruments (including the long pointy thing used to operate on King Louis XIV’s anal fistula) make for a fascinating visit. The museum is small, on two levels in one large room that looks like it hasn’t changed in a century. You’ll pass through some beautiful hallways of the medical school on the way to the museum entrance.
