Created in 1837 by Louis-Philippe, the museum within the famous residence of Louis XIV offers the visitor a discovery of the royal court with the life and times of a monarchy, as well as the arts of the French Empire, that changed the history of France .
Opening Hours: Daily except Monday, from November 1-March 31, 9am-5:30pm (last admission 5pm); from April 1-October 31, 9am-6:30pm (last admission 6pm). Closed on certain holidays and during official ceremonies.
Tickets: Entry to the Castle and Museum is €13.50, reduced rate of €10 after 4pm during high season, 3pm during low season. Prices include audioguide in English.
Free Entrance : Kids under 18, first Sunday of the month from November 1-March 3, disabled visitors with one accompanying person, professional artists, art and art history students, journalists with ID and ICOM (International Council of Museums) members.
Info and Services : A cafe and a bookstore are located within the chateau. In the gardens, there are several restaurants and a shop specializing in garden and Marie-Antoinette items.
