An elegant building houses this museum dedicated to Asian civilizations, with a collection of artifacts from India, China, Pakistan, Afghanistan, South-East Asia, Japan, Korea and the Himalayas.
Opening Hours: Daily except Tuesday from 10am-6pm (last admission 5:30pm.)
Tickets: Entry to the Museum is €6, reduced rate of €4. Entry to Temporary Exhibitions is €6.50, reduced rate of €4.50. Combined entry to Museum and Temporary Exhibitions is €8, reduced rate of €5.50. Reduced rates applicable to all on Sundays and for 18-25.
Free Entrance: Kids under 18, teachers, journalists with ID, ICOM (International Council of Museums) members and first Sunday of the month. Entry to Buddhist pantheon, Japanese garden, library and photo archives is always free.
Info and Services: Free audioguide available in English. Maxence restaurant. Accessible to wheelchair users; air conditioned.
Heather’s Tip: Don’t miss the Buddhist Pantheon (a block up the street at 19 avenue d’Iéna), a series of galleries presenting Buddhist statues from the 4th to the 19th centuries and a tranquil Japanese garden. It’s free and open daily except Tuesday from 9:45am-5:45pm (tel 01 40 73 88 11).
