* Warm New Year Wishes *

It has been an unusually warm December, making it quite pleasant for visiting the Christmas markets, ice skating at Hôtel de Ville or checking out the window decorations in the department stores. For the moment it looks like it will remain about 12°C/55°F in Paris through New Year’s Day. If you’re here on the 31st, don’t public transport runs all night, taxis are almost impossible to find, cell phones tend NOT to work right around midnight when everyone’s trying to use them at the same time, and there are no official fireworks shows in Paris, although there’s a light show on the Arc de Triomphe (note that police will be checking for glass bottles, which are not be permitted on the Champs-Elysées after 4pm, so leave the Champagne at home or drink it before you head out). Stay safe, et Bonne Année! – Heather
