Even if you haven’t been to Paris over the past two months, you may have heard it’s been snowing. A lot. Strikes, protest marches, and imminent terror threats tend to be exaggerated in the news, but the way Paris (and most of the country not used to snow)  gets paralyzed after just a few centimeters is sadly true. As I write this on Monday morning, it’s been snowing all weekend, interspersed with slush, freezing rain, high winds, and fog on the way. Paris hasn’t been the worst hit. The Loire Valley, Champagne region, and the Finistère region of Brittany have been completely snowed in as well. Because the snow rarely sticks in this part of France, no one owns a snow shovel, and Parisians probably don’t even realize they’re legally supposed to shovel outside their shops.
