The Bibliothèque Marguerite Durand (aka BMD) is the only French public library exclusively devoted to women’s history, feminism and – more recently – gender studies. It was founded in 1932 thanks to the donation of collections gathered by feminist journalist Marguerite Durand dating back to 1897.
