Paris’s iconic Grand Palais has been undergoing major renovations since 2021. Parts of the building reopened in time to host the Olympic fencing events under its famous Art Nouveau glass roof—a spectacular setting for those made-for-Instagram photos. Over the winter holidays, it was home to the Grand Palais des Glaces, supposedly the world’s biggest indoor ice rink. Both events offered a glimpse into how this Parisian monument is evolving during its ambitious restoration, which is scheduled to continue into summer 2025.
As with any major renovation, there have been growing pains—and some confusion among Secrets of Paris members about various ticket passes and privately run exhibitions. I spoke “off the record” to a member of the Grand Palais team to set the record straight.
