A contemporary design boutique hotel in the popular Rue Cler neighborhood, the Cadran features a “clock” theme (the antique grandfather clock from the formerly old-fashioned hotel adds a touch of warmth to the somewhat minimalist lobby). Rooms are bright and tidy, which helps make up for their tiny size. Superior rooms have king size beds. All have flat-screen TVs, free WiFi access, oversize mirrors, and shower or bath. The largest room is the junior suite. But forget about the rooms, because the real draw (at least for chocoholics like myself) is the newly opened gourmet chocolate bar and boutique in the lobby, run by the young pastry chef Christophe Roussel. Two different flavors of hot chocolate, macarons in over a dozen flavors, and little chocolates to suit any taste (photo below, with David Lebovitz).
40 rooms, 1 suite. Elevator, safe, A/C, minibar, hair dryer, soundproofing.
Chocolate bar closed Monday.
